LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has released new details about its upgraded light display.

The resort says it partnered with lighting designers Chris Kuroda and Andrew Giffin, who worked on visuals for the band Phish, on the expansive installation.

Over three miles of programmable LEDs now line the Rio's hotel towers.

Rather than have a loop of the same colors and feature a static light scheme, each show will be a "thoughtful, never-before-seen lighting feature where every pixel is meticulously programmed," the resort says.

"For decades red and blue neon have been a staple of this iconic property," Trevor Scherrer, president of Rio, said in a statement.

"Led by the creative vision of Chris Kuroda, this new lighting experience is sure to reinforce to both visitors and locals alike that something truly special is happening at the Rio."
