      In an apparent effort to whip up national fervour ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls due in October this year, the BJP-led saffron alliance has — through the Cinema Owners & Exhibitors Association of India (CCEAI) — taken the initiative of having a special free show of the film, “Uri — The Surgical Strike” for college and high school students across the State on Friday.

      Announcing this, Maharashtra Minister for Skill Development Sambhaji Patil-Nilangekar said: “In all, 2, 25 lakh  college and high school students will watch “Uri — The Surgical Strike” on the occasion of Kargil victory day tomorrow.

      As many as  497 cinema halls and multiplexes will simultaneously screen the film at the special free show at 10 am in 36 districts in the state” .

      July 26 is celebrated as Kargil Victory Day. Friday happens to be the 20th anniversary of the historic event when the Indian Army successfully trounced the Pakistani forces during the 1999 Kargil War.
